Henry Floyd Wright, 83, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 18, 1932 in Warren County to the late William Henry and Nora Gipson Wright.

Henry worked in law enforcement for 37 years and retired as Assistant Chief with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Royal Hart 497 for 62 years. Henry also was appointed District Deputy Grand Master for 3 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke Rapids.

Henry is survived by his wife, Roma Ray Wright; his daughters, Donna Lee Wright of Morehead, KY, Barbara Kay Wright White and her husband, Don, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Mary Ann Wright Earp and her husband, Wyatt, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Sonya Jane Wright Ferguson and her husband, Chris, of Salisbury, NC; his sisters, Bessie Young of Littleton, NC, Margaret Ann Lynch and husband, Charles, of Norlina, NC, Mary Frances Whitby of Chase City, VA; his five grandchildren, Kaylin Nicole White, Abby Marie White, Thomas Wright Ferguson, James Henry Ferguson, and Elizabeth Kirby. He is also survived by his very special friends D.N. “Drewery” Beale and his wife, Gail, and Kay Norwood, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and his constant furry companion, Madison.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services of Roanoke Rapids, NC.

A memorial service celebrating Henry’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services of Roanoke Rapids, NC, with Rev. Rick Gaskins and Rev. Dathan Hall officiating.

Masonic Rites will be held in the chapel immediately following the service.
